Hashtags – Hashtags are almost universal now across social media but gained popularity on Twitter. This symbol # which is known as a hash, turns any word or group of words without spaces into a searchable link on the social media platform you are using. This allows you to join in the discussion about specific subjects. If you wanted to engage with someone interested in cricket, you could put a post out saying “That was a great #cricket match between England and India.” Someone searching the cricket hashtag can see your post and join in the conversation.
Instagram Stories – Stories are photos and videos uploaded to an Instagram account taken throughout the day. Stories are not shared on the Instagram Grid, instead they are accessed through a different part of the app. Instagram Stories are usually less edited than posts on an account’s Grid. Most users use GIFs, stickers, music and more to create a content with a different vibe that isn’t supposed to last forever, in Instagram’s case 24 hours.
IGTV – This is Instagram’s video platform. It used to be an entirely separate app, but now Instagram has implemented IGTV into the main Instagram app. IGTV’s main selling point is it’s a video platform for vertical video. This means that the content on there is made to be consumed how you would naturally hold your phone, rather than tilting your phone horizontally to watch videos.
